So it is absolutely critical that you get set up with a commerical autoresponder service like aweber or getresponse because the big money is in the list because this business is all about building and maintaining relationships.
Because the reality is not everyone will be ready to do business with you today, but if you stay in contact and continue to provide value over time – many will wind up purchasing your products or joining your team in the future.

A funded proposal is when you offer a tool, training or software that requires purchase on the front end. In other words, you attract people with a problem an offer a solution that pays you a nice commission. This is a the heart of “building a business, not just a downline.”
If you think about prospecting where you buy a network marketing leads, pick up the phone and connect with them to see if they might have in interest in learning more about your opportunity and they say “No” – what to you have? Nothing, and you’ve wasted your dime.
By leading with a tool or a solution in your mlm marketing efforts you can earn money regardless if anyone decides to join your mlm deal or not. Hi Rob,
Keep up the great work. You DO provide so much value for people.
Appreciate the positive feedback, Steven. Thanks so much for stopping by and contributing.
Hey Rob,
I would have to especially agree with #3 and #5. the most important is making that connection giving value and having that system in place
Cheers,
Claude
Thanks, Claude. Giving value and having systems in place is important. Value is the attractor. Systems allow for scale. Both are critcal to building a real business.
Secret #1 you have broken down the confusion between prospecting & marketing so many people esp. newbies get this whole thing totally confused & have no idea what they are doing. I must share this one everywhere thanks for sharing & breaking it down to the basics.
Thanks, Toshiba. I agree… there tends to be a lot of confusion in the industry because most of us don’t have a sales and marketing background.
Hey Rob,

~Anthony
Thank you, Anthony. Appreciate the feedback.
I’ve learned so much from your blog posts alone and recently purchased your latest product through MLSP. Thanks for the valuable info, Rob!
Thank you, Melinda – appreciate the feedback.
In order to promote a multi level marketing business, you really need to have a keen sense of persuasive promotional power. Now matter how good your MLM program is, if you don’t communicate the benefits (the sizzle) effectively, your program can easily be overlooked and dismissed as just another also ran MLM program. There is just so much competition and so many programs vying for attention and a following that standing out is the challenge.
Absolutely, Lisa. People often buy into the LEADER or the personality of the sponsor first versus the actual opportunity. Great insight. Thanks for sharing.
if you need to give your MLM business an enormous leap in success, you must think of approaches on how to improve with regards to marketing and promotion. Even low-quality products might get sold out on account of good advertising, especially in the event that your product works well. You shouldn’t waste your products quality simply because of poor procedures. Discover ways to hold your head high and look for alternatives in doing things correct this time.
Hey Guy – thanks for sharing and you are right – even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then!
I really like how the developer of this site has used an audio narration module to help readers assimilate all of the information without having to strain their eyes or even look at their computer screen. Visitors can rest their eyes or even watch TV while taking in the information. I personally do not need this because I use text to speech software which I can command to read all of the text for me.
There seem to be so many different types of tricks and techniques for generating leads and building relationships that ultimately lead to sales for a product or service or a multi level marketing program. I have been reading so many blogs about so many different types of programs. After you do so much reading, it starts to sound like noise. At least this site recognized this and provided text to speech, or actually, it was narration.
Daniel is right, the audio narration module does make things easier. I read so much on the computer in any given day that my eyes really get tired so any time there is an audio narration module that can read it to me I am going to leap at that opportunity. Thank you for posting this information I appreciate the work you put into this article, great job.
Thank you for narrating your post for us I get so tired of reading articles that have to do with marketing tools and was to generate new business. Multi level marketing is not something that I like but I have to do it to make my business grow. By narrating this for us you have saved me hours of precious time and I can get started with my new marketing strategy sooner.
You have some really good tips to follow in order to generate more leads. You make it sound so simple but I have been doing this for awhile now and the leads are not that easy to come by. You have to be a pretty good salesman in order to get what you need to make a profitable business. I appreciated the narration of your site though that was helpful.
I have been doing my share of research over the past year or so and I have noticed many different styles of approaches when it comes to generating leads or MLM program members or those who are on the fence, who need a little convincing in order to convert into full fledged members. Sometimes a person wants to find an effective MLM program, but is skeptical because they’ve been overwhelmed by all the noise from other programs.
MIle – have to agree with you 100% there. The key, I think, is for people to research first how to actually marketing and promote a business to find a way that makes sense for them. Once they figure this out – in a sense, planning their work first – then they just need to work the plan. Overwhelm and confusion is a tough thing to get past so the time spend upfront to layout a specific play of action can pay off huge dividends later.
The audio narration module does make things easier. I am on the computer a lot in any given day and it really makes my eyes get tired, so any time there is an audio narration module that can read it to me I am going to leap at that opportunity. I wish all blog and web sites would come with an Audio narration module
Multi level marketing is not something that I like but I have to do it to make my business grow. By narrating this for us you have saved me hours of precious time and I can get started with my new marketing strategy sooner. I wish everyone would narrate their posts and it would save so much time in the future.
It’s funny, Paul – but I started out with a chip on my shoulder about MLM marketing and have, over the years, really come to appreciate it more because it is one of the few businesses where we actually get paid to help people – versus compete with people.
Thank you for posting this information, have you posted such things before because it sounds familiar in a lot of ways. If you have then I just wanted you to know that I have read all of them I think and you always have such good advice and pointers. Thank you for putting your time into this and really helping a lot of people out.
Thanks, Allen. Appreciate the feedback. We’ve been online making money since 1996 so we just “might” have a few of these principles down.
This is all about multi level marketing correct? I’m not a fan of this method because to me it seems like a pyramid scheme and I don’t want any part of it. However as I was reading your post I started to think maybe I had this all wrong and it wasn’t a scheme of some sort. You’ve opened my eyes to other possibilities and I’m going to have to do some research, thank you.
Matthew – you know, I have to applaud the fact you approached the topic with an open mind. MLM has gotten a bad rap over the years for a variety of reasons but, today, a lot of very well-known household name companies and products are distributed vie the direct sales or network marketing model. It’s a great model when set up properly and run properly.
My take on multi level marketing is that it is like sales on steroids in the sense that once you manage to convert a few prospects, the profits multiply as you begin to reap the benefits from the marketing efforts of others. But you must have a viable product and a good company behind that product. Without a sound infrastructure, you won’t get any support or the proper training to begin properly in the first place.
Charles – yeah, I’ve always looked at it like affiliate marketing on steroids with a different name. Once you have a team of affiliate – they drive the traffic and help you make sales. Same in MLM. Build a team and it is all about a lot of people each doing a little that adds up to a lot.
I am not very familiar with MLM marketing but I will do some checking into this and see what I can come up with because after reading your article I am very curious how this all works and what have you. Thank you for posting this information I really do appreciate it and I hope that you will continue to spread the word because my friends didn’t know either.
Junior – fantastic. I think what you will discover in time is MLM is one of the fast ways for ordinary people to create a nice full-time income working part-time from home… or wealth… depending on the time and effort you put in.
I have heard a lot of people talk about this kind of marketing being a pyramid scheme and other things like that and I have to tell them that it isn’t. I thought that way in the beginning as well but then I went to a meeting where it laid out exactly how it worked and everything so after that I understood it more and got involved with it and it works great.
I think by narrating this you have opened the door to a lot of different possibilities because people can be listening to what you are saying and going ahead with the research they were doing or they can be looking up what you are talking about in your narration. This was really interesting and I hope to see more of this narration stuff in the future.
Thank you for posting this it has made it easier to make sense out of what MLM marketing really is. I thought at first that this was a bad way to go about getting business but now that I have done more research and really read up on it I am thinking that it might not be such a bad thing. I can’t wait to get involved so that I can start growing my business.
Pardon me for sounding like a skeptic, but 100 leads per day is a very prolific number even for a sales master. I am not saying that 100 leads in one day is impossible, it certainly is possible on one’s best day perhaps, the to be able to produce 100 per day consistently would be incredible. I do think I know how this might be possible: by amassing a large reach their Internet marketing methods.
Tad – you are absolutely correct. Generating a 100 leads per day for the average person who does this part time is beyond reasonable expectations. However, consider this… we post, on average, one new piece of keyword targeted content per day and focus on getting this new content to rank on the major SERPS. We’ve been doing this for close to two years and average over 60,000 unique visitors to THIS BLOG every month which spits out 100+ leads per day quite often. It’s all a matter of scale. Will it happen overnight? No. In a month? No. In a year? Perhaps…
I thought at first that this was a bad way to go about getting business but now that I have done more research and really read up on it I am thinking that it might not be such a bad thing. I can’t wait to get involved so that I can start growing my business. You have made this so much easier to understand.
I appreciate the honesty with which rob responded . I think it is very refreshing to hear a multi level marketing person be candid about getting realistic results. More often than not. we tend to hear nothing but hype and noise concerning earning potential of any program. I would venture to say that Rob was being quite modest by saying you could only “perhaps achieve 100 leads per day in a year. I’d say it’s quite plausible.
Hey Jorge – thank you for the kind kudos. Appreciate it.
I apologize for my misconceptions of what MLM marketing was but I think that a lot of people are like me and they just don’t really know what MLM marketing is or how it really works. There are so many different articles that everybody is reading and they get more confused the more they read. I think that yours was in fact one of the best articles thank you.
Awesome, Robert – are you ready to move over to the dark side? LOL
I think that a lot of people are like me and they just don’t really know what MLM marketing is or how it really works. There are so many different articles that everybody is reading and they get more confused the more they read. I think that yours was in fact one of the best articles out there but if you are not familiar with some of the jargon you still get confused.
Thomas – thanks so much for pointing that out. It’s true. We often get so caught up in our own world we forget from the outside looking in… people are not able to see what we see if you use “jargon”. Guess it’s time to work on that…
Have read a lot of comments about people being cynical until they got started and they understand it now and they aren’t cynical anymore. I have to admit I am still cynical and probably will stay that way for quite awhile. There is just something about this that doesn’t feel right and until I can get that feeling to go away I am not going to be satisfied.
It’s all good, Amanda. One of the saying we have is netmarketing is right for everyone but not everyone is right for network marketing.
)
Now that I know what MLM marketing leads really are they don’t bother me so much, I have been trying to find something that would help me understand and I finally found it. After reading your article I think I am ready to get involved in this and see if it will help my business grow. You have done an excellent job on this and I can’t wait to get started.
It’s a pretty incredible business model that is proven to work after many, many years – if you work it. Just go make it happen…
There are so many different articles that everybody is reading and they get more confused the more they read. I think that yours was in fact one of the best articles out there but if you are not familiar with some of the jargon you still get confused. I wish just one reputable company would step up and explain what this is exactly, no hymn hawing around about it.
Zeima – most of the step-by-step “how to” info is found in the marketing training of various sites. Each company is a bit different as are the compensation plans, etc.
As far as a commerical autoresponder service goes, I know many people like to use a paid service like aweber, but I prefer to pay nothing and use the Free open source script called, phplist. But a word of warning; If you choose to use this open source code, you should be technically inclined with some knowledge of PHP or you better have an IT person at your service because it is not quite so easy.
Thank you for posting this information I finally get it and now that I do I think it is going to help me a great deal to get what I need to generate more traffic and business for my company. I was at my witts end trying to figure out a marketing strategy that would work and you already had it figured out.
Thank you so much for the step by step instructions basically to what we need and what needs to be done. This is an awesome and easy breakdown of how this works and anyone should be able to read it and understand what you are talking about. Thank you so much you are the first one to break it down this way and make it so simple.
I know that you broke this down to make it as simple as it could be for people like me, and I do understand it better now. I still think it is a crooks way of doing things though. I don’t like my sales depending on the other people, that is my problem not something I can blame them for because they didn’t sell anything. To me sugar coating it won’t make it go away
Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this stuff up. I was involved in something like this a few years ago and I couldn’t handle it I had to get out because the high pressure sales I just couldn’t do and the people I was under weren’t making any money either. So I got out and I am thinking of getting back into it now.
I know there are different ways that MLM’s work and different companies and things but I just could never get into the whole multi level thing. I want to make money for me and my family not for someone else so when I was getting into this I wanted to start my own business doing it and have people making money for me.
Mastering the art and science of multi level marketing online can be a daunting task for someone who is new to MLM and especially for persons who don’t have any IT expertise. When you can’t do any IT / web development tasks on your own, the gulf becomes even bigger because you realize you are going to have to risk even more money by hiring an IT guy, on top of the funds for marketing .
I have never understood this that much but I am glad that I came across your article because now it makes a little more sense. This is something I really think I could get into and enjoy now that I understand it better, thank you for taking the time to explain it in layman’s terms.
I think there are a lot of people like me out there that just don’t know what they are doing when it comes to MLM marketing. It takes commitment and hard work to make it work and people get into it thinking that the people in their group are just going to start making them money and that doesn’t work. I hope this explains it for more people to understand.
Of all the things I’ve found with people I have talked to, who were not novices to MLM, is they lack the self-belief, consistent daily disciplines needed to succeed, something just doesn’t connect. In contrast, top income earner secrets are not really secrets. There’ s no magic button – success is rooted in knowing who you are, what you stand for, and believing in what’s possible. So once you have the knowledge, you must have the drive.
Hey Rob,
I have really enjoyed reading about the seven secrets of MLM…..In fact I will be getting recruited by a MLM company (hopefully)..:) to train the independent agents, should you have any tip for me it would be really appreciated.
Thanx And Rgds.
Chandrika.
I still don’t quite understand the whole concept of MLM marketing but I am slowly learning more and more by reading these post like this and a few other things. Thank you for taking the time to explain as best you could I appreciate it very much. You have done an excellent job with your article and I hope that you will post again soon.
I just recently learned what MLM marketing was really all about and I have to admit it is very tempting to get involved. There is supposed to be a seminar here in my home town in the next month so I am going to have to sign up and see if I can get started in this. Thank you for the idea I hope that this is what I have been looking for.
Now that lead generation techniques have become so available throughout the Internet, it has only served to saturate and add to all of the overabundance of information that is available to anyone. This makes it that much more difficult to really find the quality training for multi level marketing. In fact this has to be one of the most saturated industries that I know of. But this blog looks like one of the good ones.
You are absolutely right, Vern. The key I think is to find a good mentor or leader who is producing the result you want and simply model their marketing model. This will help to sift and sort through the abundance of “weak” info.
I went to a meeting about joining a team to do MLM marketing and when I left that meeting I was really confused but your article, believe it or not has helped me a lot. I understand now with your help and some other digging I did that this is something I think I could do but I would have to remember to not sit back and rely on the others to make me money.
I still don’t think I can trust this kind of marketing and they way it is handled. Multi level tells me that it is like a pyramid and I know that kind of thing is not right, you can’t just sit around and wait on the guys under you to make you money because you are supposed to make money for the guy above you etc. to me that is just to unsure.
MLM stands for Multi Level Marketing right? How does this work exactly, I mean you explained it pretty good in your article but I want to know where is my money going to come from? Who actually cuts the check? Are they keeping track of everybody on your team? This is all so confusing and I just have a lot of uncertainties going through my head. If I can get these answered I’ll be ok.
I used to do this but I started my own business and just couldn’t keep up anymore. You can do rather well at it if you apply the principles that everybody seems to know and repeat all the time in the books you read or the blogs on line. I think that is the key, just get the principles down apply them and you can be successful at it.
Multi level tells me that it is like a pyramid and I know that kind of thing is not right, you can’t just sit around and wait on the guys under you to make you money because you are supposed to make money for the guy above you etc. to me that is just to unsure. If they can convince me that it isn’t a pyramid scheme then I will reconsider.
I joined a team that did MLM marketing before and I couldn’t get the hang of it so I gave it up but others on the team did quite well with it and made some money. Maybe now that I have read this article I can understand it better and possibly make some money at it.
When someone joins a Network Marketing or MLM business their starter pack should include rules about online social networking. Just like at the public pool. The rules to keep people safe and having fun are posted on a board right at the entrance so everyone can see them. You know the ones- No running, no horseplay, no spitting, etc.. Here is what the #1 online social marketing rule looks like: #No spam; No pitching products.
Yeah, William – I have to totally agree with you there. Too funny. I think I’ll actually go put one together… LOL
One reason many have resistance to programs like this is when most people are first exposed to their first MLM opportunity, they are over powered by the complexity and newness of MLM concepts and terms. They are confused with all those new terms such as “Network, Downline, Upline, Organization, Levels, etc.” Then there is the specific MLM plan that is being presented that is always anything but simple. There is too much to absorb quickly.
It is a statistical fact that over 95% of network marketers never make a dime of positive cash flow in this industry. The odds aren’t very pretty. They were stacked against everyone from day one. If you treat your MLM business like a hobby then the information on this site (which could be golden) will be a waste of time. However, if you’re truly looking to grow a huge network marketing organization, then I would say sign up.
Eric – good point. The reality is in EVERY business or profession the majority do not make money. It is not the business or professional that lacks potential – it is the failure of the majority to treat it like a business.
An experienced multi level marketer once told me that you should be up front with people about the deal because you want target prospects. He cautioned not to trick your prospects into attending a gathering or dwell presentation if they’re unaware that your online business is MLM. By doing this you’ll flip people off because they may realize that you just were attempting to trick them into something that they most definitely want nothing to do with.
I used to have a friend who was a successful, fulltime marketer (which is kind of superfluous to say because you must work full time to be successful) who once told me to do what you would want your team to do. This means that even when you reach the top of your pay plan you should still be recruiting, promoting events and running events (webinars or meetings). I can better appreciate what he said now.
The most receptive MLM offers I’ve seen are those that give content freely, with generosity. If a marketer is concerned about giving away too much or you’re otherwise holding back in any way, worry less and give more. The spirit with which something is offered matters as much as the something.’ And while your value includes your content, it definitely doesn’t stop there. The ones who are interested will see that and want it all.
This MLM program must have a strong earning potential based just on the sheer numbers of members. What are the chances for success for a company with only a couple of products but with high sales volume requirements. Unless the product is addictive, success is questionable. What’s really ironic is that programs like this have no trouble attracting distributors. That’s the easy part. it’s mostly due to the hype surrounding the perceived high payout of the compensation plan.
The MLM market is a wonderful industry without a doubt. There is only one trouble with it, the absence of success. If only all people may generate fortunes in the MLM industry, but sadly they cannot. Most people never make it in the MLM industry due to want of focus, commitment, aggravation and challenging work. I believe you can. This is the charm of a residual income business opportunity. This business makes profit for you again and again.
I’ve noticed that MLM trainers are turning to content farming in order to drive traffic for MLM recruiting. There’s nothing inherently evil in hiring “freelance writers to generate large amounts of textual content. Even The Huffington Post, which was awarded a Pulitizer Prize this year, does that. Nothing is inherently evil about trying “to generate advertising revenue through attracting reader page views. Even The New York Times, which has won 108 Pulitzer Prizes, does that.
Paul – you’re right. It’s smart marketing actually. While there are tens of thousands of people searching for “make money” and those types of things online – the market is pretty saturated. Better is to simply post things people are interested in… and backend your MLM program.
When you begin using many different MLM strategies to market your business, you are constantly putting your time and money into multiple areas. As a result there is not enough time to master one strategy. When this occurs, you only see small amounts of traffic from each strategy, instead of learning how to get massive results from one. This creates frustration and reduces your income, which often leads a new distributor to think MLM is too hard and quit.
I have heard that many novice MLM persons make the common mistake of believing that all those other people all over the world will do the selling, so you don’t have to. Can you earn a good MLM income while you sleep? I’ve been told Yes. but that you need to build a profitable model that your prospects can see, before you look to widely expand. Once you have a machine that generates profit, you have a cookie cutter.
Multi Level Marketing is a good thing to start if you are trying to make some extra cash on the side. It is a risk though. People have been known to take advantage of other people doing this though and they put together a pyramid scheme where they get paid from you making sales etc. it is a fifty, fifty chance if you are going to make money or not.
Going to the LTD2 was a lot of fun and there were people there with such great ideas and levels of fun that I couldn’t hardly stand to watch people have fun anymore with out joining in but I had to stay in our area so I didn’t get to see much of it like I had hoped we would. And you are right Rob there was a lot of high energy there.
Thank you for using an audio narration module to help us assimilate the information. I was struggling with some of it but when I turned on the narration it became more clear. I am going to take this to my mom because she is blind and this will allow her to hear it. Thank you so much you have opened a whole new world to us.
One of the best ways to produce the result you need is to find someone who is currently producing the result you need and check specifically, what it is they did and do to produce that result. After all, that’s what any pro sports league does – they copy the strategy of the champions. Just look how NBA teams are now trying to build a big 3 through trades – trying to become a juggernaut like the champions Miami HEAT.
So true… find a proven model and simply copy it.
Melvin, I was at the LTD2 as well, wasn’t that the best? I haven’t seen that much energy and such great enthusiasm ever at one of these. And I talked to some people that were just full of great ideas. This is really taking off these days and the more people want to make money the more it is going to grow, I hope they will do something like this again.
Rob, I liked your reply to Thomas about the Jargon and people being confused because of all the tech talk and the different articles saying different things. I am glad that you agree that it is something that needs worked on because I am sure there are a lot of people out there that would sign up for this if they knew more about it and what it meant.
Everyone thinks that MLM marketing is a pyramid scheme and I have to admit I did at first as well, now that I am in it though I see that it really isn’t you actually have to work harder at this then you would if it was a scheme of some sort. Thank you for the information in your article it is slightly different from most and a new outlook.
I want to start a MLM marketing business and I have learned through you that in order to promote a multi level marketing business, you really need to have a keen sense of persuasive promotional power, if you don’t communicate the benefits effectively, you can easily be overlooked and dismissed. There is just so much competition that standing out is the challenge.
What is the best way to get started in the MLM marketing industry? I have read a lot of article and they are all running together now so I thought I would stop for awhile and simply ask one of the people that wrote one of the articles that made the most sense. Thank you so much for the work you put into this and the narration tool was a great idea.
Wow this stuff is all so confusing, I know that you have tried to simplify it and all that but this just isn’t a clear process for me. I was listening to your article (which was a very clever idea) and I was working along thinking that this is more complicated then I want to make it. Maybe I need to go back and listen again but really focus on what you’re saying.
When I hear the words: marketing secrets revealed, you can go one of two ways. You are either intrigued or skeptical. It depends on how you are accustomed to see the glass. I for one am interested in knowing whether these are still secrets. A well kept secret is only that until many people know about it and use it to compete against you. If these particular methods are saturated, then obviously the field could be watered down.
Wow, Josephine – thank you for sharing that. There are two ways to look at that, isn’t there?
There are many MLM programs and over the years, I have come across all sorts of systems and even a few pyramid schemes. When you are not in the mix of things, like myself, you tend to assume whatever the noise is around you. Lately, I have heard that it is possible to increase your subscription list by using a few effective strategies on your blog.
I just signed up to the opt-in form. I’m curious as to whether this is an actual MLM program or a training resource for most MLM marketing and recruiting. I hope it is more based on MLM training, not because I am already working an MLM program, but because I can use all the training I can get. Sales recruiting is not exactly my forte.
If a mere 3 techniques can dramatically improve my sales or generate profits for a multi level marketing program, then I challenge the person making that claim to show me proof of such success. I know it is difficult to prove sales or earnings, and I don’t mean screen shots of a doctored bank statement. My point is how does one know when any MLM program is lucrative, unless you invest and risk the time and effort.
An experienced MLM guy once told me there are 3 things you should always remember if you decide to get into MLM or internet marketing: 1. Know your business. 2. Know the rules (I am assuming he was talking about the earnings rules of your particular MLM program) and 3. Well, I actually forgot what this one was, but if these general rules are similar to the ones this article refers to, then maybe someone can fill in the blanks.
How many times have you been got started in a home based business where they told you all you had to do was simply make a list of your warm market, dial some expensive opportunity seeking leads, speak with everyone you know and soon you’d wake up with a huge business? Those are the same techniques that are being hammered in the industry. Yet, the failure rate is a staggering 95 percent.
Michael – you are absolutely right which is why we teach our team how to MARKET. Because we will all eventually wipe out our warm marketing and now need to do what any other business need to do… market.
Michael you are right I have been told that before and I have invested lots of money into these kinds of things to just have them fall apart. I think I was looking for a get rich quick scheme and that isn’t what this is at all. You have to work at this and make sure you do marketing the way it is meant to be done.
I have seen some pretty generic MLM video promotions on youtube. There’s this one that promots a VIP Exclusive webinar takes you deep into the marketing mind of a 7 figure earner and gives you the exact ads he used , scripts he spoke and the websites he leveraged to build a $ 1,000,000 network marketing empire in under 3 years. I’m wary when I hear such hype. I’m hoping this program is more realistic.
Why assume it is hype? There are a LOT of people making a LOT of money in affiliate marketing, internet marketing and network marketing. Of course there are a lot more who simply purchase products and programs – do nothing or close to nothing and make nothing or close to nothing. Doesn’t mean the program or product was a scam or full of hype. It simply means that person was not wiling to pay the price to make incredible things happen for themselves.
A lot of great marketing can happen by accident. The “Success in 10 Steps” ebook, so popular to so many M-L-Mers now, was originally titled “The 10 Biggest M-L-M Marketing Mistakes and How You Can Avoid Them.” But the focus was wrong. “The 10 biggest M-L-M marketing mistakes” became “Success in 10 Steps.” I hope the techniques here can yield as much prosperity as that classic manual.
In my several years in the MLM industry, In have met multi-millionaires and I have met failures. While the companies change, the pay plans change, the techniques change, there are always several principles that the successful people all have in common that the masses fail to do. I hope that the strategies found in this blog are congruent with the basic, proven MLM marketing principles. I’m opting in to find out for myself.
One of the most common things I have heard is that you should start first with your warm market, but I think this is mostly a waste of time. Why not get right to the more prolific methods of reaching the masses? Social media networks are there, waiting to be utilized properly. Does this program cover using social media and which networks to utilize?
An MLM mentor once told me to look for “needers instead of leaders. People should have people skills and business acumen. After all, you’re looking to build a business. Don’t look only for people who need help. Those who need help will likely drag on your resources tremendously and probably wont ever be on their own anyway. You want to attract leaders who are ready, willing, and able to take the ball and run with it!
Hi Rob,
What a great post! You have covered so many key points here! I really appreciate your insights! I like your writing style too
As there are so many proven success stories about MLSP as a success marketing system, why reinvent the wheels? I LOVE your ‘Final MLM Marketing Secret #7′. I think this should be the No.1 secret — ‘find top leaders who are already producing the result you want – find out what they are doing and how they are doing it – then simply do the same exact thing.’

I tend to think that there are some people who just seem to be very lucky. They are always in the right place at the right time. They can build any MLM company quickly and easily. Their downline stays with them and they have fabulous retention. How does this happen? Why are some people lucky while others are unlucky? I hope this program answers some of these questions that remain a mystery to me.
I was like Toshiba and I was confused a little until I read your secret #1, you broke it down and made it easy to understand for once. Like her I am going to share this with everyone I know so they will understand as well. I hope you will continue to post and hopefully it will be some more very helpful secrets like this article was.
I agree with Claude #3 and #5 is probably the biggest items on there to follow. You have to have both in order to have balance in the business and the way the marketing will take place. You have done a great job here and your article is full of great information. I hope you will post again as you get updates.
I hope this blog helps me avoid mistakes like the one that’s served me well till today: Never talk to prospects as if their time is more important than your own. In fact, let them know it is a privilege to be on your team and that you don’t just accept anyone to work with you. After all, not everyone is worth your time. Don’t be overly concerned with what your prospect thinks. Their opinion is not more valuable than your own.
We’ve all hear how email marketing can be very productive in building customer lists. But those who choose to harness the power of this mass marketing tool should keep in mind that the information you send should be related to your MLM program. Otherwise, you may be recruiting emails from people who have no interest in your program. Otherwise, what is the point of having those emails.
We’ve all made them but I had to fess up about the biggest mistakes I’ve made in my limited MLM industry hoping that someone out there can avoid the same frustrations, debt, doubts and gray hairs that I had to endure to learn about MLM marketing. You should take your experience and all the terrible mistakes you made along the way and learn to do things the right way in the MLM industry today!
There’s no denying the network marketing game is tough to get into, but the rewards can be incredibly sweet once you gain momentum. The truth is few people survive the MLM gauntlet. They believe network marketing offers an easy solution to financial freedom, and that once they have a system set up the cash will roll in like nobody’s business. The reality is this type of mindset could kill your venture before you even begin.
If you’ve been in MLM for more than a year & are yet to break into the big league; you are most probably doing one of the common mistakes. The typical mistakes are hidden traps., these habits give you an illusion of doing the right things & the satisfaction of being busy. Most of these mistakes arise from not setting correct goals & a step by step approach to achieving those goals. This site will hopefully help many avoid them.
All MLM businesses have some start-up costs. You will need to pay for all your office expenses, product kits and so forth. In my experience with a certain MLM program, every new representative was asked to “fast-track to a management position by buying tons of inventory. It was touted as an investment in your business. The con’ of that program was that anyone not willing or able to come up with the cash was treated as an outcast.
In Multi level marketing prospecting refers to finding those few people who will bring in loads of revenue. It is about using those strategies to draw the attention of such people into your loop. And all it normally takes is talking to the right kind of people, but at times this could prove difficult owing to the demographic issue. most times emails are the easiest way of communicating. And that’s what I’m hoping to learn here.
It’s really strange! Too many people start an MLM business with excitement, enthusiasm, anticipation, because they want to be a successful home entrepreneur. There are many people, who right now are not as successful as they would like to be. Only If your performance in this field is error free can you do this business in a proper way as well as make lots of money. But we all need training from experts like these.
I really hope people don’t visit other sites and get duped doing what does not work. Don’t write that list of 100 friends and family soon to be enemies. STOP bugging every person that comes within 3 feet. This does not work for any MLM. We should be thankful that the people of this site have been studying MLM’s for quite some time and are willing to share to all what they know to work.
Poll: What do you think that biggest mistake is? Is it not finding the best source for your leads? Not finding the best “closing” sales method to convert borderline prospects. Not having that “killer” sales letter? I think the biggest mistake many marketers make is that they don’t understand the business they are in. They are not in the product business or “sales” business. They are really in the PEOPLE business, whether they realize it or not.
What I expect to see from a training course such as this is a warts-and-all examination of an often misunderstood system of business (that’s what MLM is it’s not an “industry”). The aim should be to give you sound, factual information so you can make informed, rational decisions. Only then can persons who are looking to work from home or for themselves be able to determine which MLM program is good for their skills and passion.
Many thought that “as long as you tagged along with the Expert or Guru, you will become an Expert yourself. Some even believed that “If this Expert or Guru makes a ton of money or sales then you will also make a ton of money or sales.
These myth or trap has caught many people off-guard and they end up spending hundreds or thousands of dollars that resulted in wasted time and effort.
