Nu Skin scam? Give me a break. Nu Skin is a publicly traded company (NYSE: NUS) founded in 1984. The company serves more than 30 markets worldwide with over 550,000 active distributors. Anyone claiming “nuskin scam” has to have a hidden agenda. Let’s take a closer look… A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet Dan McCormick, a guy who has earned over 40 million dollars in the network marketing industry in the past 20 years. Now if I’m not mistaken, Dan is a one of the leaders representing Nuskin, a publicly traded company founded back in 1984. Dan is a man of principle and value. So if there was any validity to all the “nu skin scam” claims you see, would Dan be involved? I think not.
Nu Skin Scam Claims
If you take a close look at my blog you will see quit a number of posts with a headline that include the word “scam” including this one with the title “nu skin scam”. Why? Because, in my opinion, this industry we call mlm network marketing is one of the greatest vehicles available for the average person to reach true time and financial freedom.

Network marketing has created millionaires and multi-millionaires for over 50 years and I expect it to end anytime soon. So when I see a person bashing the industry in general or bashing a company in particular by claiming “nuskin scam” or some other derogatory… it really makes me made. Because the reality is, for whatever reason, the company or business did not work for them. And they’re mad. So they tend to point fingers versus taking personal responsibility for the result they produced or didn’t produce.
So if I can use my SEO skills to get an article like this one to rank high on the search engines – to rank ABOVE all the naysayers – so I can share the truth about a company, product or opportunity… I’m almost compelled to make that happen.
After all, if you are here now because you are doing your due diligence and are seriously considering joining Nuskin to start your own business, then you deserve to hear the truth about the company and not read someone foaming at the mouth because it did not work for them. Because, regardless of the company you are considering, the unfortunately reality is you will always find more than a few people who joined, didn’t do anything, and now… to save face… seem compelled to scream something ridiculous like “nuskin scams – avoid them”. It’s sad, really.
Nu Skin Scam Claims CANNOT Be True

Nuskin (NUS) is a publicly traded company in the New York Stock Exchange, but this has nothing to do with the scamming and marketing tactics used by the network multi-level marketers just to get their downlines’ money. And if you read the contract the upline has the downline sign, it states there that Nuskin is not liable for whatever transaction these other parties agree to.
NUS is just there for the money, and they close their eyes and stay away from whatever tactic used by their marketers to get it.
This is pretty much true across the board with any company who operates through a team of independent contractors. It only makes sense. You sign up as a distributor so what you do and how you do it and with whom you associate has nothing to do with Nuskin whatsoever. So this isn’t an unusual clause or stance for any legitimate company to take. Sounds like you had a bad experience, however. Which is unfortunate. Many blessings.
I’m out looking for the NuSkin web site as my wife loves the product. My comment to you as an author is that you need to proof read your blog/column for typo’s/wordo’s. While I enjoyed the content, you have multiple, sloppy sentences that detract from your message.
This paragraph was especially poorly composed. You are “made” and “expect the industry to end anytime soon”.

Thanks, Robert for the heads up. Sometimes I do proof, sometime not.
I have been a Nu Skin distributor for years and discovered that it takes about 999 people before you find one who will succeed, which translates to one-tenth-of-a-percent! NOT a good margin.
Most of us leaders either started very early and we had money, as without these two there is NO WAY you can make it in MLM and that includes Nu Skin. Nu Skin as a company is good….for the owners NOT for the distributors as most of them lose. Read Jon Taylors book Nu Skin’s Naughty numbers to learn the truth. Do NOT join Nu Skin if you are looking for a home based business and you are not able to ”buy” leaders to join and ”premarket” new markets as that is what it takes to succeed…really it does. It even took me years to see the deceptive reality of the math. So, for every successful Hawaiian Blue Diamond Nu Skin distributor it took thousands to lose their hide! Don’t take my word for it, just look it up. http://www.mlm-thetruth.com
This whole MLM sales deal is based on the LDS method of prosylation…it is a numbers game. The LDS cult sells you a one way ticket to the illusionary ”Kingdom of Heaven” while Nu Skin sells you a one way ticket to the land of Unobtainable Wealth in the Land of Greed… Do you own research and if you can find fault with what I say I love to hear it because I even bet for a thousand bucks that you can not find better success rates than 0.01% Stay away!
Thanks for sharing. Is this “the” Mark Yarnell of Your First Year in Network Marketing? If so, we used to be neighbors as I’m here in Carson City where you used to “fly”.
In most companies the success rate is pretty small. But I think that is more a matter of what the new distributor DOES and DOES NOT do with the business. Daily action over an extended period of time will build a profitable business. But MOST don’t take daily actions.
Hey Rob,
I’m in MLSP and love all the great info you share. You are a true leader!
Thanks!
Hugh
Thanks, HJugh Jo. Network marketing is a fun business to be in because we can come along side to work together to produce amazing results. Hang out, have fun and enjoy life. Gotta love it…
Hey Rob, thank you for the review I’ve just completed your five(5) day boot camp WOW! what a wealth of information you’re just giving away there my friend I really appreciate the time and energy you put into that training.
Thanks again.
Nelson
Hey, Nelson – glad you liked it. And it is a very powerful way to promote literally anything online because once you understand the concept – it just works. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it.
Hello,
In my country, they say that one of 1oth persons succeed in this business. Many people debate on Nuskin business pro and against partners or worse products. I believe in what Nuskin sells because I use galvanic and I was a scanner operator and liked it very much. Unfortunately, I am upset on the partners, too and ceased to do the business because of this. I do not know what to do.
Appreciate advise,
Respectfully,
irinet
One of the things I’ve learned over the years, Ion is YOU must take 100% responsibility for growing a business. You can’t count on your upline leaders, personal sponsor or partners to make things happen. It’s up to you to build a business with or without their help.
I am a CPA in England and have spoken to CPA’s in the US to compare notes.
Nu Skin and nearly all other network marketing companies are deceptive fraudulent deals that offer dismal success numbers.
Nu Skin’s numbers come down to one quarter of one tenth of one percent! That is equal to one out of about 4000 people to lose for one to succeed.
No matter what anyone tells you, don’t buy in to these scams!
If Nu Skin or any other network marketing type of organization was truly a “scam” as you suggest or if they were deemed to be unfair, unethical or illegal… they would be shut down by the government. And since most companies like Nu Skin operate internationally – there are a LOT of different governments taking a close, hard look at the company and their marketing practices. Conclusion? They are NOT scams. It is simply unfair to call a company a scam because the people who join the company do not “get in and get busy” and treat it like a real business. There are over 2 million active real estate agents in the United State. Less than 4,000 actually earn a six-figure income. So the failure rate is dismal. Is the real estate industry a scam? Over 70% of small businesses fail within the first five years. Is small business a scam?
The value of an organization is grounded in its people. If you really researched Nu Skin, you would have discovered that their are real PHd scientist developing their products who are recognized is science journals for their contribtions.
Scam orgnizations come and go – Nu Skin is solid company with repeat sales based on the qulaity of their products.
Rob,
Seriously, “uncensored nude gaming hoax” as a tag? Is that the secret tag to dominating page 1 of Google the way you do? I need to know what you know about keyword research and/or tagging.
Great article. Merry Christmas
Hunter
Well, thanks for pointing that out. We were actually using some type of tag generating plug in which we have since removed because of things like that. Don’t think it helps, but hurts.
Nu Skin has not been shut down because they lobby heavily to keep prosecuters off their backs. Do some research.
That is why they ”donated” so much money to Jon Huntsman and Mitt Romney’s campaign…among others.
Nu Skin is a huge fraud and their own published numbers show it!
They are a public held company and have no choice.
Stay Away!
WOW Thanks for clearing that up for me. Nu Skin can not be a scam because they are publicly traded. Wow, now I just have to figure out all the banks, and hedgefunds and other big companies who are traded publicly can possibly be accused of the same thing. Perhaps you should blog about them being traded on the big board too. You have just cured Wall Street, ROFLMFAO
Too funny, Wesley – but I hear you loud and clear. Better would have been to say that Nu Skin is regulated. For better or worse. LOL
I have just started the business and it really amaze me that the first thing many people do when they see a rare opportunity like this is look for reasons not to do it. It now makes sense how my contacts can have such high value cause so many people let opportunities like this pass them by. It took me 2 months to start making profit and now it’s just growing. Today one guy said he would not do it because he is convinced this cannot last forever. I don’t know if he is right or not, but I do know that many things do not last forever, including life itself, so why look for silly restrictions like that. However, that so many people are scared to try something for their own make it easier for business people, cause we have courage. We don’t need a safe job to hide behind, a job that takes away the best time of our lives. The funny thing is that he works in the oil industry. I believe it is a fact that oil will not last forever, but I would not be surprised if the same guy would reccomend get a job like him haha. How about relationships? According to statistics, you should not get involved.. the great thing about Nu skin is that even if you are a person without business skills can make money, all u need is a person with the mindset of a business person in your downline, you never know! And if you stay, you will learn and get the same mindset yourself one day. I used to be a associate professor of business economics. One day I read that with 3 things u can achieve any dream: determination, time and money. As an employee I realized that the two latter was very restricted for me, I had sacrificed them to feel safe. I quit my job 5 years ago and have never lost a second of sleep about money ever since. There is plenty of opportunities (although few as good as this) to make money, so no reason to be scared. That people think this is a impossible way to make money makes me feel that I really deserve every kr I am making

I could have found reasons not to do it, but that is not how business people think. We have dreams, and nobody is gonna stop us with their silly restrictions
But a typical employe would not understand this, because their core value is safety, their lives are guided by fear (off course I know some people love their job so much that they would pay to do it). Anything new these people come accross, they need to see if it could be dangerous first haha. No risk, no chance of profit is the rule in business economics. If you don’t believe in this, you are probably one of those that hope you will win the lottery one day
Cheers!
Erik – Good for you for making a decision and seeing it through. Awesome stuff.
Rob, a round of applause to you! Great job. Thank you for the simple pin points you cleared in the article. I’m in MLSP and I am a Nu Skin Executive and also know Dan McCormick personally and yes it’s absolutely not a scam. Just like anything else, anyone has to work their tail off! Loved your examples about Real Estate Agents and small business owners.
Guess what? My husband is a Real Estate Investor who is suffering daily in this industry and I used to be a business owner (that failed!) after my corporate career with Chevron.
Thanks again “Key Word Master” =)

Niveen – you hit it spot on. Work your tail off by doing what others won’t so you can live the life others can’t. Love it.
