How would you like to virtually guarantee any article you write and submit to EzineArticles will rank on the front page of Google?
I actually discovered this technique for ezinearticles traffic a few weeks ago. At the time I was trying to determine which article directories were worth submitting to on the basis of “do they rank” on Google.
What I found is you can often find EzineArticles.com, Buzzle.com, ArticleBase.com and ArticleCity.com articles ranking well. The other, smaller directories? Not so much.
So one powerful technique would be to write a nicely researched, keyword-rich article and submit it to ezinearticles first. Once approved (because they only accept unique content), then rewrite this original article and submit to the other three directories. Now you have 4x the chance of getting your article to rank and, sometimes, will even rank numerous times for the same keyword.

See how that works? We basically go get a list of all the keywords we might want to rank for. The External Google Keyword Tool works well for this.
Next, open up a copy of Market Samurai and open the “Rank Tracker” function. Add ezinearticles.com to the domain section. Change the google results to check on the first 10 positions (the first page).
Hit CHECK RANK and let it roll. When complete you will see all the ezinearticles results displayed. That is, all the articles that currently rank on the first page of google for that particular keyword.
This means YOU NOW KNOW, for whatever reason, Google likes this particular article for this particular keyword. So all you have to do is write an article optimized for the SAME KEYWORD and get more backlinks to it than the article that currently ranks. That’s it! Done deal. Watch your ezinearticles traffic explode.
You can also add all four of the major article directories in the domain area and see if any of them are currently ranking articles for the keyword you want. If so, write an article… submit it to the same directory… get more backlinks than the current article has… and voila!

Question: UAW will allow you to directly link to an EZA article like you mentioned above for backlinks?

Yes, with UAW you can add links to the author bio or even links within the body copy and the “where” you link is totally up to you. So a good strategy is to actually post the original article on your site or blog first. Then submit to ezinearticles (you can do this), then wait for them to approve the article… then spin and run it through UAW linking to BOTH – your site and the ezinearticle. A lot of times the EZA will rank first, then your site will eventually catch up and you’ll have two first page listings on google.

I bought your Keyword Gold Digger software and was curious as to how you determine if you’ll pursue getting a keyword phrase to rank on a site like EZA or getting it to rank on your own site.
Do you have a criteria that you follow to determine how you’ll tackle that?

Chris – two different things, really. If I’m going after ranking using ezinearticles… then I simply do keyword research to see if an article is already ranking on the first page. If so, then I write the article… get it approved… and then backlink to it. Pretty easy. I don’t care about the competition because the road has already been paved, if you will.
If I want to rank for a keyword phrase on my own blog or something like that – then I do keyword research like normal using Market Samurai or even the Google tool – to come up with my initial list. Then I run them through “Digger” and simply sort the results from LOW to HIGH. Lower is easier – so I start there. I’ll make a post optimized for that keyword, promote and then move on down the list.

By the way, are you still using Keyword Research Pro for finding keywords or have you exclusively moved over to Market Samurai for keyword research?

Pretty much 100% use Market Samurai now and it’s pretty incredible. KWP stopped working a couple months ago and the programmer has pulled the plug until the next rebuild.
