Lesson from Great Lives - Dan McCormich

Thanks, Dan. Appreciate You.

Recently, I was privileged to share the stage with a $2 Million Dollar network marketing earner – Dan McCormick – at a 3 day training event hosted by Todd Falcone.

It was surreal for me to actually be sharing the stage to participate in a leadership millionaire mastermind round table event.

I mean, we’re talking about Dan McCormick here. A guy who earned his first million by the age of 22 after being in the business a short three years.

Dan then went on to build another 7-figure annual income with a second network marketing company in the 90s, and is now earning over $2 million a year with his present company – a milestone he reached within 7 years.

So I was a little conflicted.

On the one hand I was proud, privileged and honored to be asked to chair a seat on the mastermind with Dan… on the other hand I deeply wanted to be “in the audience” to fire questions and have the chance to pick his multi-million dollar mlm producer brain.

Turns out, I was the first person to ask Dan a question because I left my seat… ran and took a seat in the front row… and fired off the first question. Then I went back to the stage to await the answer. My question was:

“Dan, it’s been said you worked like a man with his hair on fire the first 18 months of building your new business. What was your MO? Your method of operation. Who did you approach and how?”

Dan’s answer wasn’t exactly what I wanted to hear. I wanted to hear “nuts and bolts”. I wanted to hear a “how to”… something I could take away and apply to my own business when I got back home. I wanted to hear the “action steps” necessary to go from where I was to where I wanted to be. In a nutshell, Dan answered…

“Become an evangelist for your company. Team up with a great mentor, trainer or coach. Focus on learning the principles of success. Study the lives of great mean. Apply the principles.”

Now here’s what I especially found interesting. After I arrived home I decided to venture online and search for any “training” material published by Dan. Much to my surprise, all of his training is principle related. No specifics. No script books or lead sources or even a step-by-step how to get started on the fast track system. Principles. Lessons learned from the lives of great men. Then just live out the lessons. Result? Greatness.

Later, after the event, Dan shared with me that the real secret behind his success is that people had become his focus, not for what he could take from them, but for what he could give to them.

He learned to listen to the experts, to those who knew more about “what it takes” than he did. He discovered that helping other people reach their financial and personal goals is what propelled him forward towards his own.

So where does his drive come from now – having succeeded faster and farther than most ever do in MLM? How does he stay motivated and focused on the road ahead? What maps does he use to navigate the seemingly endless dead ends and detours in life that can take a person off course? It comes from his mission:

To inspire individuals to align their lives with purpose, responsibility, vision, and principles of greatness.

These principles are not secrets, they are evident in the lives of great men and women who have shaped our country, have unraveled the mysteries of science and nature, have led our soldiers in battle, have created priceless works of art and have proven that what may seem impossible now, may only be so for a short time.

Dan also has recently published a book. Lessons from Great Lives. You’ll want to get hold of copy and STUDY IT as if your financial future depends on it. Because it does. It really does.

Great read Rob – I, like you, have followed Dan for a good while and wondered how he has achieved so much so easily (or so it seemed).. I guess like all great networkers, they simply make the hard work look easy and are prepared to learn, apply and stay focused on what matters – people.

Congrats on sitting on the panel for this event also – must have been a big buzz ;-)

Building a profitable network marketing business is EASY – but, that said, it requires a LOT of work and staying power. It is the process of doing very easy things… connecting with people, sending them to a presentation and following up… over an extended period of time on a consistent basis. EASY, but something that takes time, effort and extreme dedication to stay the course.
