A good benchmark is to target keywords that have less than 100,000 competing pages using a “phrase match” search. This is a good article marketing strategy taught by many SEO professions. However, a better approach would be to determine the EXACT number of pages google has indexed for your keyword and make a decision based on those results. I agree that articles are really powerful when it comes to marketing its just sad that there are many spun articles across the web now with unreadable-rubbish contents. As I come to know more about SEO my view of the internet has now changed. Can’t tell who is giving the right information we need. The internet used to be a BIG library of correct informations now most of the time it’s rubbish =(
